U.S. M4 Sherman tank

D-Day Landings

A U.S. M4 Sherman tank on its way through a badly damaged French village near the beach-head. On the right is a knocked-out German Tiger Ausf B. Also another German tank is destroyed.

The prongs on the front of the Sherman were used for cutting through hedgerows and were made "in the field" from girders and heavy scrap metal.
